Hi Members,
I've been reading a lot and I'm thoroughly confused and need assistance here.
Been almost a week that I got the S24 Ultra and I've noticed the issue with the "image shift/lens transition/jarring animation" in the camera app.
A phone worth 1 lakh should not be having this kind of an issue, right?
While many people explained about this being a normal image shifting that the camera does, I don't see it happening on another S24U device. Both the devices are running the same software.
Mine was manufactured on Jan 25th and it has the issue and the other was manufactured on 7th Feb and it works flawlessly.
Samsung India needs to acknowledge this and hand out replacements for selling defective devices.

Lens Shift is not an issue or a defect. Image in the Camera View Finder is shifted from one sensor to another. All the Samsung phones which have Lenses spread as rows and columns experience this.
Its because each sensors don't the see the same location/area as the one next to it. So when user clicks on let's say 1x to 3x, zoom transition happens, post which lens is switched.
If the transition is what jarring, a software patch can fix it. But if it's the alignment when lens switch happen, then it's going to happen on every 24 Ultra. This happens on all previous models as well 23U, 22U.

I gave away my S23U. I have clicked zoomed in images and never experienced this kind of a shift.
More importantly, I got hands on another S24U with Feb manufacturing. This Feb device does not have the same issue as mine. Image shifts smooth.

S23U also has this issue and it still does have it to-date. But the issue is more visible when the lens switch happens from 1x to 10x, rather than from 1x to 3x. More accurate extrinsic calibration between camera sensors can fix the transition to be a tad bit smoother between the lens shift, as the new sensor's position will be more accurately centered with respect to currently active sensor. But even getting calibration accuracy beyond certain decimal digits is difficult to be realistic.
Samsung could try improving the extrinsic calibration, transition animation, most likely to be a software fix.
But it's not a hardware defect like the other users portray.
